For its 24th edition, the International Day Against Homophobia and Transphobia will feature a large public march in Montreal

For May 17th, municipalities can support LGBTQ+ individuals by taking two simple actions: raising the diversity flag and/or adopting an official resolution. The first is visible and mobilizing, while the second represents a lasting political commitment. Ideally combined, these actions strengthen inclusion and send a clear message against homophobia and transphobia. Every action counts toward creating more inclusive communities.

Fondation Émergence presents the 4th edition of its art auction, a solidarity event that brings together artists, collectors, and allies to support the rights and inclusion of LGBTQ+ individuals. Held in two complementary parts—a live auction on Sunday, February 22, and a virtual online auction—the event offers flexible ways to participate.

Fondation Émergence will host the first symposium in Quebec dedicated to the realities of LGBTQ+ seniors. This day of reflection will bring together researchers, practitioners, and organizations to assess the current situation, share existing knowledge, and identify concrete paths for action to create more inclusive and safe living environments.

Fondation Émergence is celebrating its 25th anniversary with the Gala Émergence on October 17 at the Théâtre St-James. An immersive evening themed "From Shadow to Light." Expect immersive staging, powerful moments, performances, networking, an interactive photo booth, a virtual auction… and much more.

Being an ally is more than a label—it’s a continual commitment. Active listening, ongoing learning, challenging biases, acting within one’s circles, confronting LGBTQphobia, and showing visible solidarity are practical steps. Every gesture, however small, enhances safety, inspires others, and propels lasting inclusion forward.

Confronted with recent setbacks to LGBTQ+ rights in Canada, Fondation Émergence underscores the importance of allies. Their visible support shifts mindsets, creates a critical mass, and counterbalances the vocal hostile minority. Through their many small, combined actions, allies foster an inclusive society and protect hard‑won progress.

Being an ally means actively supporting LGBTQ+ people: listening to their experiences, defending their rights, and calling out discrimination.

In 2024‑2025, LGBTQ+ rights are retreating in many countries through discriminatory laws, rising violence, hateful rhetoric, and declining social acceptance. Confronted with this global backlash, the mobilization of allies is essential.
