Mr. Desmarais is SME Director of the Business Area of the National Bank of Canada. Mr. Desmarais has a background in law and practice law for several years and has professional experience as a financial and banking advisor and volunteer involvement in several LGBT organizations for more than 20 years.
For example, he has been:
founding member of the organizing committee of the IDEO Network (LGBT committee of the National Bank of Canada),
president of the Quebec Chamber of Commerce (CCGQ) from 1998 to 2002, Chairman of the Board of Directors from 2002 to 2004 and remained after that as an admnistrator,
member of the Equality Committee of the Canadian Bar Association
His commitment has been rewarded with several distinctions:
2018: Canadian LGBT + Chamber of Commerce Legacy Award
2017: Creation of the Phenicia - Patrick Desmarais Scholarship by the LGBT Quebec Chamber of Commerce for a student at the master's or doctoral level in Quebec whose studies focused on economic or LGBT + business issues. This scholarship is awarded each year at the Phénicia Gala.
2010: Recipient of the Ronald Poiré Award for his commitment, dedication and dedication to the Gaie du Québec Chamber of Commerce
2002: Recipient of the medal of the National Assembly of Quebec
Laurent holds a master's degree in sociology from the Université du Québec à Montréal and a graduate degree in post-secondary education from University of Montreal. He is also a member of the scientific committee for the development and implementation of the scientific program of the UQAM Research Chair in Homophobia. The studies and work of Mr. Breault have allowed him to acquire several skills in event organization, research and communication.
Olivia Baker has been a communication agent for Fondation Émergence since February 2018. Ms. Baker holds a Master's and a Bachelor's degree in Communications from University of Montreal (UdeM). She has been involved in the LGBT community for many years, including as president of the LGBTQIA + association at her university and as a member of the Diversity, Gender and Sexuality Committee of the World Social Forum 2016.
Julien is a project management professional for non-profit organizations, he joined Fondation Émergence in April 2017 and assumes the coordination of the program Ageing Gayfully
Administrative assistant since January 2020, Raja holds a master's degree in clinical psychology and is currently doing a master's in drug addiction intervention at the University of Sherbrooke. She was formerly working in a Tunisian association to fight HIV / AIDS with populations at risk.
The Board of Governors of Fondation Émergence unites personalities from all walks of life, all professions, including some public figures.
They all believe in the need to support Fondation Émergence so that it can help other people. One of its members is elected to represent them on the Administrative committee.
